Being given meds for mental health problems is not a solution. They don’t solve the problems; they just mask them. Treatment involves some kind of therapy that helps you deal with the problems rather than merely putting them off. #mentalhealth ...

Cat McDonaldI don’t normally comment on FB but making statements around psychiatric medications such as saying that they don’t solve problems but just mask them and suggesting people talk to their Dr’s about stopping taking them feels irresponsible but also suggests maybe a lack of knowledge around psychiatric diagnosis and the reasons medication is prescribed which in some cases can be life saving. To suggest that taking medication puts people off dealing with problems, masks them and delays recovery is naive. Medication doesn’t mask problems - medication regulates symptoms. Regulating symptoms means that people can engage more fully in their lives without experiencing overwhelming symptoms. As a fellow therapist I felt compelled to respond.

Recovering from an affair is hard work, a work made even harder by interference from others. Such interference can derail recovery and add to the pain. It’s so important to protect that delicate relational space and seek out therapeutic support that can actually help. #emotionfocusedtherapy #couplestherapy #affairs ...
